My favorite Thai place. I fell in love with Thai, because of this place. Crispy fish with sweet garlic sauce. Omg. Have to get this every time. Tender fish, crispy, that sweet garlic sauce--wow. Basil beef, veggie delight or deluxe? Fried rice--any kind, basil, chicken, beef, crab. Pad Thai--not sweet, just slightly, slightly sour.... Eggplant chicken, tom yum, larb, drunken noodles. I could go on. Its all good. I've been there so many times. It's reasonable price. Parking isn't the best, but it's worth it.
Overall, the food was very good and the price was average. However, the portions were quite small. We ordered the yellow curry, which was really good, probably one of the best yellow curries I've had. We also had their pineapple fried rice. Again, probably one of the best pineapple fried rice I've had. Their pad see ew was also really good. I think the best dish we had there was there Sala Thai Chicken. I just remember that it was my favorite and should be part of the dishes that everyone orders!
The Pad Thai here is pretty good, but they don't give you any lime which is strange. The texture and flavor of the noodles were good. We've been looking for a good Thai food place but haven't had much luck. Thankfully, this place is super close and has decent food. Unfortunately, the Pad Kee Mao noodles were soggy and had no bite to it. It was flavorful and spicy, but it had a strange aftertaste. Overall, this location is good to try though the prices are a bit on the expensive end compared to local Thai restaurants. If you're looking for a good meal, I suggest just trying the Pad Thai!
We originally planned on eating at Little Dipper, but the wait was incredibly long, so found Sala Thai on Yelp not too far from LD. I'm guessing because of COVID, everything now comes out in togo boxes. You order and pay before. Basil fried rice - Pretty good dish but I wish it had a more prominent basil flavor. Crispy fish with garlic sauce - I surprisingly enjoyed this the most. I don't normally don't go for fish when I eat Thai food, but my friend said she heard good things about the fish. It was tasty and didn't have a super fishy taste. The garlic sauce was on the sweeter side which actually fit perfectly with the fish. Don't miss out on this dish when dining here. Green curry with chicken - I usually go for yellow curry, but this one was just as delicious. It was creamy but not to the point where you get sick of your food. Also had a little spice kick. Pad see ew with beef - You can never go wrong with pad see ew. It's my favorite Thai dish. This was my favorite dish along with the crispy fish. Pad thai with tofu - We originally didn't order this, but after seeing the portions of the dishes (for 4 people), we decided we probably need an extra order. I thought the pad thai lacked flavor and was a bit soggy. I wasn't a big fan of it. Overall, Sala is a great place to get your Thai food cravings satisfied. I do wish the portions were a bit bigger though.
My boyfriend's family loves this place and they swear by Sala Thai 2 as the best Sala Thai location. This has definitely been my favorite meal in Fremont so far and I loved every dish that we ordered! We called right when they opened on a Sunday and they were able to have everything ready within 15-20 minutes. Crispy Fish with Sweet Garlic Sauce: GET THIS! The fish is so crispy and even survived the ride back home. They package it in a purposeful way to help keep the fried crispness. The sweet garlic sauce is addictive and pairs well with the dish. Definitely my favorite! Shrimp Pad Thai: Classic Thai dish and they executed it well. I love the sweeter taste in the Pad Thai and the shrimp was well cooked as well. Basil Fried Rice with Chicken: I appreciated how this fried rice had an obvious basil flavor and was very different from the typical Chinese fried rice I have. The rice was on the firmer side, which I enjoyed, and had a bunch of veggies. Chicken Red Curry: I really liked this, especially with rice. You can taste the coconut, sweetness, and some slight stinky fishiness (in a good way).
Sala Thai in Fremont is definitely one of the Thai restaurants I know I can go to and not leave feeling disappointed! We got the Sala Thai Chicken (crispy, fried chicken with a delicious garlic sauce), Chicken Pad See Ew, and a Thai Tea. It was two of us sharing this food and their portion sizes filled us up! We weren't even able to finish the food, so there is great value. All of the food was delicious, especially the chicken. Bon Chon's soy garlic strips are my favorite chicken, and the chicken here tasted similar in a way! You can also never go wrong with Pad See Ew or Thai Tea :) We were here around 2pm on a Friday and we were the only ones dining in. We got our food within about 10 minutes of ordering!
Had a chance to go to Sala Thai twice this past week and try an assortment of dishes from here. This place is pretty popular for takeout but also has seats for eating inside. The service here is pretty fast and the food comes out piping hot which is always nice. I ended up trying: *Chicken Satay - juicy pieces of meat with a yummy peanut sauce always does the trick! The cucumbers on the side also help alot *House fried rice (shrimp/chicken) - personally found the fried rice here pretty plain, not the worst but not as flavorful as I have had before *Crispy fish with the sweet chili sauce - this was reallly yummy. It is rather simple but delicious in the form of yummy crispy crunchy fish with a light sauce which is great as a side for rice or noodle dishes *Panang Curry - This was my most favorite dish ever - loved it so much went back the next day to get more. Got this with chicken but the curry here is really creamy and fulfilling (for me atleast). Overall, I would go back here - because I loved the Panang Curry so much!
We ordered Sala Thai for New Year's Eve and got the crispy fish, pad see ew, and pad thai. Everything was so tasty and delightful. Their crispy fish is my favorite item and we always get it whenever we order from here. Highly recommended! The pad see ew and pad thai noodles were also cooked perfectly and the flavoring was light and not heavy. Even though we drove from Fremont back to San Jose, the food was kept warm in the containers, which was awesome! We called to pick up the order and were told it would take 20 minutes. It feels more COVID safe because the restaurant only allows one person to go inside the restaurant at one time. There's a jar for new pens versus old pens, hand sanitizer, and a shield between employees and guests of the restaurant. Thanks to Sala Thai for keeping guests safe and for their yummy food!
